Falkensteiner Resort Capo Boi, a five-star property in Villasimius (Cagliari), welcomes guests with the slogan “Welcome home.” The resort sits on the southern coast of Sardinia, where a white building designed in the 1960s by Belgian architect Eric Balliu stands out against the green environment. Balliu created a Moorish-style structure with a Y-shaped floor plan, rounded lines, and many arches.
Inside, the design blends Sardinian craftsmanship with local art. The color palette features blues and turquoises against pure white walls. Guests walk on wool Sartapp rugs made with the ancient pibiones technique and see textures by Mariantonia Urru, baskets by Erre di Rosalba, and ceramics by Walter Usai. The property offers eight categories of rooms and suites, including five villa types. Villa Bellavista is a single unit of 240 square meters with seven bedrooms, a private pool, and direct sea access.
Facilities and Dining
The resort provides four swimming pools, a soccer field, a tennis court, and a beach volleyball area. Guests can take boat and catamaran excursions, go diving, and snorkel. The on-site 750-square-meter Acquapura Cocoon Spa features saunas, a Turkish bath, and a heated pool. Treatments use Sardinian essences to relieve tension and regenerate the body, aligning with the hotel’s focus on longevity.

Chefs Theodor Falser, Massimiliano Balia, and Stefano Miozzo run the culinary program. They serve their food at Kento Bay, Artigiani, the Sudoki Raw Bar, and Artigiani Pizza. The menu combines Asian, Sardinian, and Mediterranean styles, aiming to please both the palate and the body.
Gianni Pes, a medical professor, notes that the resort is located near one of the five Blue Zones on the planet. These areas have a higher concentration of people living to 100 years or more than the global average. The longevity in these regions comes from a combination of diet, physical activity, and lifestyle factors. The resort’s architecture and amenities reflect this environment.
For visitors, this proximity to a Blue Zone suggests a connection between the built environment and personal health. The resort does not require guests to change their habits to enjoy the setting; the design itself promotes relaxation and engagement with the environment. This setup allows guests to experience the area’s lifestyle benefits without the need for strict routines.
